New crash information added by DrKonqi
muon-installer (1.2.1 "Caustic Carrionite") on KDE Platform 4.7.3 (4.7.3) using Qt 4.7.4
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Starting the application. The first view was starting to appear (but still all blank). This is on a netbook, using the netbook plasma shell; a similar version of both the OS and Muon software on a laptop doesn't reproduce the bug. The user starting Muon has a fresh install and no documents nor specific settings in his home directory. The crash is reproduced at each start of Muon.

This happens with 'muon-installer', the "easy" interface to package management; it doesn't appear with 'muon', the classical APT frontend. *** Bug 291286 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 291317 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** This looks like an Ubuntu-specific issue. muon-installer (1.2.1 "Caustic Carrionite") on KDE Platform 4.7.4 (4.7.4) using Qt 4.7.4
- What I was doing when the application crashed: starting Muon and running Firefox and picking my nose
- Unusual behavior I noticed: my dog was meowing like a cat
- Custom settings of the application: I selected the 'Do not crash on startup" setting. I'll turn that off and see if it works better that way.

Dear Jekyll,
I get loads of emails about this bug from you and others.
How is the progress on finding a solution/cure/patch?
At the moment, I can't install or uninstall programs.
Please give me hope!!!
Sincerely
Tony
PS Some of the emails have what is suggested as a solution. Sadly, I don't
understand them!

muon-installer (1.2.1 "Caustic Carrionite") on KDE Platform 4.7.4 (4.7.4) using Qt 4.7.4
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Very similar to Report 92. However, I was doing a fresh install on an HP laptop (ze5500 with aP4) with no extra software. After running update from a Kubuntu 10.04 CD I proceeded upgrading from Natty to Oneiric. From the console login using (sudo apt-get upgrade) it stalled.
I powered down rebooted and i ran sudo dpkg --configure -a and sudo apt-get -f from Konsole on KDM. I ran the upgrade from the gui and used Kpakagekit. Other programs seem work, but Muon never did start fully. Only the frame but never the contents show up a few seconds before crashing.
KDE Platform came with Kubuntu LiveCD.

i've found out that changing the conditions in software-resourses solved the issue;
Turn off the PPA for independed software from 3th party in the software-resources solved the problem.
Muon works fine now.
Also just upgrade to KDE 4.8 from 4.7 solves the issue with Muon softwarecentrum
