Hi,

Do you still see that discrepancy in what is today and yesterday in a more recent version?

If it is still present, do you suffer this bug all day or only close to midnight?

Thanks.

Screenshot showing the bug

The screenshot shows a French version of Kmail. "Aujourd'hui" stands for Today while "Mardi" stands for Tuesday. Today happens to be Tuesday...
Comment 4 Raphaël Pinson 2009-01-06 09:59:53 UTC
As shown in the previous attachment, I get the same bug on the same version of Kmail (1.10.92) running on KDE 4.2 beta2 (KDE 4.1.85 (KDE 4.1.85 (KDE 4.2 Beta2))). It also applies to the labels under which mails are put in the main view. Having started my Kmail yesterday, I find yesterday's messages under the "Today" label, while messages received today are under the "Tuesday" label. It seems the labels from the main view are never refreshed.

SVN commit 909353 by tmcguire:

Don't hardcode the icon size to 16, instead calculate it based on the size
hint and pass it around.
This allows the icons to be scaled down, which helps with small font sizes.
The icons is not made bigger than 16 yet.

In kmail 1.11.90 (kde 4.2.62), when you change the folder and comes back, the date is updated.

In my view the problem is that the labels with Today, Yesterday etc. are not updated when the date changes at midnight.
When the labels are wrong and you go to another folder and return back to the folder where you had the wrong labels, at that moment the labels are OK again. But when you keep that folder open, than at midnight, the Today label does not change in Yesterday, etc. When you receive a new message after midnight it will be shown in a label with the name of that day (e.g. Tuesday).

That is a different bug (I think, at least!), and is already fixed in KDE 4.2.2.
See bug 174684.

I'm not having this problem anymore. The new views and choices for kmail are pretty sweet.

After upgrading to what?
Comment 23 Nik Tripp 2009-03-19 16:46:14 UTC
I am currently running KDE 4.2.1. Kontact 1.4.1 Kmail 1.11.1. Not sure exactly when problem stopped. I lost my setting during one of the upgrades and was using one of the more traditional views until a few days ago when I saw the bug report and decided to check it out again.
Comment 24 Ferdinand Gassauer 2009-03-19 20:06:47 UTC
On OpenSuSE 11.1
kmail Version 1.11.1
Using KDE 4.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1) "release 104"
I am not aware of this problem any more neither.
I think it can be closed
Comment 25 Mark van Rossum 2009-03-19 20:13:23 UTC
Don't close it. It is still a problem for me:
KDE 4.2.1
Kmail 1.11.1
qt4.4.3
(Fedora 10 with kde-testing updates)

What is your qt version?
Comment 26 Nik Tripp 2009-03-19 20:20:22 UTC
4.4.3

Also a problem for me, with ArchLinux/KDEmod 4.2.1, running Qt 4.5
Comment 29 Ferdinand Gassauer 2009-03-22 07:08:52 UTC
could it be a refresh problem ?

I just got the situation again.

then I exited from KMail completely (no icon in Systray any more) and restarted kmail, the date changed to yesterday
Comment 30 Thilo-Alexander Ginkel 2009-04-04 18:47:47 UTC
I am still seeing the problem with KMail 1.11.2 as shipped with KDE 4.2.2. Switching back and forth between folders after midnight corrects it, though.
