Bug is not about in kmenuedit. Problem is in frameworkintegration package.I fixed this problem with install new package frameworkintegration_5.9.0+git20150418.1058+15.04-0ubuntu0_amd64.deb It works with kmenuedit v5.2.2 and also git kmenuedit v5.3.90

As a workaround, find the .desktop file (I found it in ~/.local/share/applications/SomeApplication.desktop , I think there are other locations), edit it in a text editor, and add or edit an
Icon=/full/path/to/icon.ext
line. I found Icon=~/some/path/mozicon128.png didn't work, you have to have a full path.

Then you may have to get KDE to re-parse the files. Making a minor change to Edit Applications or System Settings > Applications seems to do it.

Simply find the .desktop file, right click, Properties... and in the dialog you can now set the icon by clicking on it and properly choosing from any image file you want. Here, the file chooser works.
