Version: 3.3 (using KDE 3.3.0, (3.1)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-12) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.7-1-686 This bug was received at Debian's BTS [http://bugs.debian.org/274114]. * Bellegarde Cedric [Wed, 29 Sep 2004 23:41:18 +0200]: > Since recent update, i can't get bookmarks toolbar hidden with > filemanagement profile and unhidden with webprofile. > gnumdk@cassiope:~$ cat .kde/share/apps/konqueror/profiles/filemanagement > [Main Window Settings Toolbar bookmarkToolBar] > Hidden=true > IconSize=16 > IconText=IconTextRight > Index=2 > Here, Hidden=true in my filemanagement profile seems to be ignored. I myself played sometime around it and wasn't able to achieve the desired effect.
Bug always present with kde 3.3.1, please, fix it :(
Present in 3.4.2 and in SVN too... In SVN it happens when I open a file (jar, tar.gz, for example) inside konqueror: the bookmark toolbar appears and remains until I close the window. Please fix it
It seems fixed in current SVN (I've just updated kde)! Many thanks, you are great! ;)
Sorry... it seemED fixed ;( ... but after a reboot the problem returned!
Hi Adeodato. It seems I can achieve that fine using 3.5.2. Are you still able to reproduce?
bugs 100865, 126556 and 132746 seems to be duplicates of this bug. The bookmark toolbar has a life of its own and seems to ignore the "Hidden=" setting in the profiles and appears spontaneously during various operations like opening of tabs or changing the view mode. Not everyone needs the bookmark toolbar in the filebrowsing profile, but vice-versa prefers this toolbar when browsing the web... I hope that KDE4 has a real/better separation between its filemanager and browser, otherwise konqueror's usability will suffer some more years.
I would like to add that this bug is still present in KDE 3.5.5 "release 45.1". I have it happenning on two separate systems (one 64bit, one 32) - both SuSE 10.1 with updated KDE RPMs. I can also verify that the value of "Hidden" under "[KonqMainWindow Toolbar bookmarkToolBar]" in ~/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc has absolutely no effect. Explicitly re-saving the "Web Browsing" profile doesn't help either. I've found similar reports as far back as 2002 (#46922) and 2000 (#13698) which may or may not be related. I know that I've had this bug for a long time, and have hoped it might have been fixed every time I do an update. -- Steve

I have really weird situation regarding this bug: Two computers, open suse 10.2, the same KDE, on both main toolbar is on, on one computer the bookmarks toolbar is on (and works) on the other I turn it on, ok, it appears, I quit Konqueror, run it again -- no bookmarks toolbar. Magic :-(
I just reported a bug which seemed unrelated to this one (which I'm also experiencing and thus watching this bug report for a while already). But after some testing, I get the impression that my newly found bug (bookmarks toolbar appearing related to the sidebar / switchting tabs or whatever, bug 145129) is just another weirdness caused by this bug. As you can see in bug 145129, I came to the conclusion that the bug was not reproducible anymore after some testing - but that was BEFORE I opened Konqueror with my file management profile again (which has bookmarks toolbar enabled, in contrast to the web browsing profile). After having opened the file management profile once, I can reproduce the behaviour described in bug 145129 again.
Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams: This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore. If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report. Thank you for your understanding.
