Version: 3.1.90 (using KDE 3.1.9) Compiler: gcc version 3.3 (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-4-default When accessing www.chip.de the system becomes almost unusably slow, opening menus or bookmarks takes a lot of time ( seconds ), killing konqueror is almost everytime the only solution. www.marcooo.de has a similar problem, but the system is somewhat more responsive.
Concerning chip.de: The slowdown is also present in the case of KDE 3.1.1, Redhat 7.2. It looks like the tickertape thing is causing the slowdown, because konqueror is redrawing the entire site 10 times a second when the thing is running. As soon as javascript is turned off the tickertape stops and konqueror regains responsiveness. www.marcooo.de renders as a blanc page here.
chip.de is just evil. Why don't they use flash or animated gifs or whatever instead of taking the system down? ;(
