Created attachment 144531 [details] Screenshot SUMMARY I want to be able to set my notification to appear on my left monitor instead of my right monitor which has my system tray widget, since my right is my primary it will usually be the one to have full screen content on it and rather than have the notification appear on top of of the content it can appear on the other monitor and be visible without being annoying to generate a test notification: $ kdialog --passivepopup 'hello world' 5 --title Hi --icon dialog-information.svg STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have 2 monitors 2. Want to make passive notification appear a monitor that does not have a system tray widget present 3. Attempt to do so OBSERVED RESULT No way to choose what monitor/display the notification appears on EXPECTED RESULT i can make the notification appear on what ever display i want in any location i choose SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 22.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.89.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.16.0-051600rc5-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Radeon RX 580 Series ADDITIONAL INFORMATION the knotify config library is vs. 5.88, still waiting on 5.89 to get packaged, still waiting on dolphin 21.12.1 to show up for that matter
Move the notification applet to your other screen and notifications will appear there.
I am aware of that, but that is not the config i desire as stated on step 2 of STEPS TO REPRODUCE
We let you position the notification in a custom location on the screen where the applet lives rather than always near the applet; seems reasonable to let you select the screen too.
One other aspect to consider is that one may have a multi-monitor setup, with a laptop monitor as well as an external screen. In this context, the external screen may actually be the main one (e.g. due to size and/or position), but removing the notifications widget from the laptop's panel would be unfeasible due to then not having it when the external screen is not connected.
Yes, that's a great point.
