Notifications example

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

Hi, there is a few problems:
1. Resizing. This is definitely broken, not smooth, etc.
2. Window size, as popup doesn't match its content size.
3. When copying is finished it shows wrong link to the target directory. Sometimes it points to the sub folder, etc. When I copied a bunch of files that link points to last of them, instead to point to target directory.

If you will take a look at the screenshot, the latest notification show a link to the target directory, but I actually copied /mnt/media/Work into /mnt/tmp.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just try to copy something, some folder or just a bunch of selected files.

Actual Results:
Plasma notifications are in terrible state, so user have no desire to touch them once again.

Expected Results:
The dialogues should be smooth, adequate in regards to its content. It should represent useful information instead of show first-encountered something.

I can confirm this was present with kubuntu 11.04, and still occurs with 11.10. I notice in the screenshot the original poster attached, it looks like he has the notifications attached to a panel that is anchored to the left edge of his screen. I have the notifications attached to a panel at the top of my screen.

Perhaps the bug has something to do with the notifications not being attached to the default spot in the lower right corner.

Wherever they were, it always broken, not smooth, changes its size unpredictable, not respective to its content and many-many other bugs. For example: when it's contain a lots of notifications it also will scroll the global header that contain the global title and the close button, etc...

I can confirm the resize bug in the plasma notification section for kde 4.7.3. If a long notification disappears the file transfer for example is not showing all the informations anymore.

Notiffication overlaps the taskbar

A new behavior displayed on screenshot. Progress window overlaps the taskbar and there is no way to hide it (can't click icon on taskbar to close it).

Which version is this about? Please update the version field.

KDE version is 4.8.3.

Some of the issues described here are still reproducible in 4.8.80.
For instance minimizing/hiding and then expanding a group in the notification popup during a larger file operation with lots of long file names makes the popup jump for some time, i.e. it changes its width depending on the length of the current filename.

Also happens when there are two groups in the popup: one finished and one still in progress. When closing the finished group, the popup starts jumping.

After some more considerations, I decided to close this bug as a duplicate and split it into several parts which have already been reported and which I can confirm.

These are:
- Bug 258648 for the resizing issue
- Bug 268439 for the jumpiness issue
- Bug 274774 for file path issues

If you want to be notified about further changes, please CC yourself to these bugs.
In case you have some more information about any of the issues I mentioned, please comment on them. If you stumble upon other bugs, please feel free to open separate reports for them.
