It crash in Qt library BMP image loader... Gilles Caulier If this is reproducible, please add the faulty BMP image, or provide a valgrind log. For more information, see http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_with_Valgrind Might be a duplicate of bug 276249. "...BMP loader?..."
!!
That fits, I handeld yesterday one 2,1 MB jpg pic, worked in GIMP 2.8
and stored as
- one png, 12,3 MB
- three bmp-pics, 15,2 .. 15.8 MB each.
Pics are confidential- business matter.
Maybe I'll be able to reproduce some fort testing purposes.

Hi,
please read my answer before. Thank you for valgrind-link. Not sure, if
time and knowledge is enough... I'll try to at weekend.

If you open this archive in Ark, it also crashes (when rendering thumbnail).
Will be fixed in Qt 4.8.5, see QTBUG-29194 *** Bug 321656 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 322008 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 325609 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 326641 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 327714 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 327714 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 328126 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** If I converted the offending BMP to a PNG and delete the BMP file, will that workaround the issue? Is there a thumbnail cache or anything I should clear? Created attachment 83865 [details]
