Hello,

the tabbar in konqueror is quite perfect, there is only one thingie left that often bothers me...
If the tabbar is not yet full (which is mostly the case for me), the width of a tab is growing and shrinking with
the title of the site it displays.
This is especially annoying when you have say 3 tabs open and you read in the second. Now you click a link, and as
soon as it starts to load, you wanna click on the 3rd tab to read it while the 2nd loads (I am on dialup)

Now the annoyance is coz the title of the website loading in tab#2 is shorter than it's pervious site, so the
total width of tabs shrinks, and *bang*, you don't click on tab#3 anymore, but right-next to it. *grmbl*

I've tried setting these hidden parameters (as I read it bug 59350):
[FMSettings]
MaximumTabLength=20
MinimumTabLength=20

They partly resolve the problem, but the size of tabs is still changing occasionally.

I don't really wanna say it, but Firefox does the tabs quite right...
I use and like konqueror for it's speed and filemanaging capabilities, and I don't wanna use FF in KDE.

As soon the tabbar gets full with tabs, it behaves good, all the tabs are forced to have the same constant size,
which is only changing very little when you add or remove a tab.

[FMSettings]
MaximumTabLength=20
MinimumTabLength=20

These settings create another problem... it seems that dynamic tab-resizing
is completely turned off then, that means as soon as I have 8+ tabs, I get the
ugly horizontal scrollbuttons.
Also, the title of the tab is not centered, but left-aligned.

IMHO this is the best way for tabs to work:
As long as the tabbar is not full: Constant tab width
As soon as the tabbar gets full: Dynamic tab resizing

The reporter of bug 263296 notes that different tab widths may cause problems when closing tabs quickly.

Bug 263296 and bug 268847 have some illustrating screen shots.
