SUMMARY On a display that has a focused fullscreen application, such as a fullscreen YouTube video on a fullscreen game, the Overview effect cannot be activated using a screen edge if that application is the one currently in focus. It can be activated using a screen edge on another display, such as a display above another, but not from the screen edge where there is a fullscreen application. If another application is in focus, such as one on another display, then the Overview effect screen edge will activate correctly as well. This was not the case in previous Plasma releases. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Fullscreen an application on a display with an Overview effect hot corner 2. Attempt to activate hot corner 3. Blue effect will appear in the screen edge but the Overview effect will not activate OBSERVED RESULT Screen Edge Overview effect cannot be activated on that display if a fullscreen application is in focus EXPECTED RESULT Screen Edge Overview effect should always be able to be activated like in previous Plasma releases SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.18.3-zen1-1-zen (64bit) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.95.0 Qt Version: 5.15.4 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We disable screen edges and hotcorners in fullscreen apps in Plasma 5.25 because it was driving people crazy in fullscreen videos and games. Unfortunately there's no way to distinguish between one of those and a productivity app you happen tpo be using in fullscreen mode where yo don't want them disabled. In 5.25.1, we fixed the weird issue of the blue glow appearing despite not actually triggering anything.
I see, that's very unfortunate as I would have said activating Overview with a hot corner in fullscreen was desired functionality but majority rules :) Thanks for the clarification, I can always use the keyboard shortcut.
Actually, I just remember that we made this configurable. You can change it in System Settings > Workspace Behavior > Screen edges > Check the checkbox saying "Remain active when windows are fullscreen".
This is excellent, thank you! I probably should've checked but I thought it was a regression, apologies! Should've known considering how customisable Plasma is. Thanks again!
