Application: krita (4.2.9) Qt Version: 5.12.8 Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Operating System: Linux 5.4.0-51-generic x86_64 Windowing system: X11 Distribution: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: I created a new file, created a text box, pasted a text and scaled it. Then, I did many paintings and deletings and selectings. Finally, I flattened the image, selected a region, copied into clipboard. Then, I filled the selection with white color, created a text box, pasted a text and scaled it. Then, I did some paintings on the root layer. Suddenly, "Krita" crashes. So happens every time using this algorithm. - Custom settings of the application: In the "Tool Opetions" -> "Vector Layer", I had set "Scale Styles" in order to be able to scale the text box. The crash can be reproduced every time. -- Backtrace: Application: Krita (krita), signal: Segmentation fault Using host libthread_db library "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1". Please upgrade to the latest version of Krita 4.4.0. The version of Krita you are using (4.2.9) is too old.

I have the newest available stable version for "Ubuntu 20.04".
Do not reopen this report please: we are not responsible for distributions keeping outdated versions of Krita around. We are not going to fix bugs in outdated versions of Krita when they have already been fixed in later versions. Either use a distribution that has an up-to-date version of Krita in their repositories or use the appimage or the krita lime ppa or the snap version of the flatpak. But do _not_ reopen this report.
Created attachment 132642 [details] attachment-27613-0.html As you don't want me to reopen the issue then I want to discuss the topic directly with you. /apt/ is a place for repositories that have stable versions of software. As /krita/ has only up to /4.2.9/ there, it means that the newest stable version of /krita /is /4.2.9/ and newer versions are unstable enough because they're not accepted for /apt/. The story is about the same as it's by /eclipse/ as the producers of it are unable to create stable software. I'd like to use /krita/ as stable software. It seems that the last stable version also crashes proving that it isn't stable. If my reasoning is incorrect please advise me why is there no newer version of /krita/ in an official /Ubuntu/ repository. Why do I have to install a separate /PPA/ or use /snap/ or /flatpak/? Ask Ubuntu? What they choose to package is not our responsibility. We make appimages; other people maintain a ppa, flatpak, snap. Our appimage is very stable. We make it. We do not make the packages in the Ubuntu repositories. Distributions do. They are completely separate from us. Distributions choose not to update their distributions to the latest releases for whatever reasons: those are _their_ reasons. So, ask them. You're in the wrong place with your demand for a discussion.
Oh, and your reasoning about what makes a release stable is bogus. The latest stable release of Krita is 4.4.0, not 4.2.9, because that is what _we_ release as the latest stable version of Krita.
