If I click on the "Open" option in "File" menu, images with uppercase ".JPG" extension are not shown. If I rename them to lowercase, they are shown correctly.
(version 17.04.1)
I can't confirm on my Arch.
works here as well (openSuse 42.2)
For me still not working, Arch + Gnome + Arc theme, doesn't work even on clean Arch + Gnome + Arc installation (I lately reinstalled my laptop)
What we do in kolourpaint is reading the MIME database (using Qt's QMimeDatabase) and then we use QT's QFileDialog. you mention Gnome. Do you run kolourpaint inside a Gnome session ? If so, please attach a screenshot of the open-file-dialog. It might be that Qt's platform plugin uses Gnomes file dialog, which would then probably a problem with this part.
I'm running Arch, Gnome 3.24.2. I cant open files with ".JPG" extension because the gtk3 open dialog does not shows the file. After change the file extension to ".jpg", the file appears in the gtk3 open dialog.
I confirm in My Arch (Gnome 3.32) JPG uppercase not recognized
(In reply to fabrixx from comment #7) > I confirm in My Arch (Gnome 3.32) JPG uppercase not recognized probably bacause this ridiculous gtk bug https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1347#note_492267
Sorry, here is the correct url https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1347
It's not a bug in kolourpaint but in the gnome file selector.
