After yesterday update the plasma-nm popup window is very very small and not usable anymore. This is on Fedora 22, but I heard a gentoo user reporting exactly the same issue in #gentoo-kde . The update upgraded kf5 from 5.11.0 to 5.12.0 so I guess this is related to the issue. problem shortly Reproducible: Always
Created attachment 93814 [details] small popup vs. expected size In this snapshot I've added the plasma-nm widget on the desktop near my panel to have a comparison of what's the expected size (and was actually the size before the update). I can find no way to resize the popup window and it is way to small to be useful.
Moving component to framework-plasma, since I just noticed the problem is not specific to plasma-nm only. Battery widget share the same problem too, sorry for the noise. Following a screenshot of the battery widget as well
Created attachment 93815 [details] small popup vs. expected size (battery widget) This is not as bad as for plasma-nm, but the bottom part is missing.

I'm experiencing the same issue. On Friday 2015-07-31 I did a full `dnf update` and it has looked like the attachment I uploaded since. Please let me know if there's any system information or logging I can give to assist with this issue. I didn't think about adding it as a desktop widget, so thanks for that workaround Enrico.
One thing to note, I have messed with a lot of settings involving scaling/hidpi/icons to support my high dpi monitor. I haven't touched the scaling since I did the update and noticed the issue, and everything was working before, but I figured it might be relevant information.
Mhm I didn't messed up with settings at all, defaults worked well for me. I have a 13 inches FullHD display, don't think this classify as HiDPI. Btw I selected frameworks-plasma as the affected component here, but I actually have no clue, other than after the update it broke. If you have any feel free to change it.
Created attachment 93882 [details] Battery wirdget from systray popup I tried to add the two affected widgets to the system tray. Plasma-nm is back to a reasonable size, unfortunately the battery one is not, screenshot attached. In Plasma-nm it is possible to scroll down in case many networks are available, but in the battery one this is not possible
*** Bug 351080 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Also reproducible in Gentoo with plasma/systemd profile. Basically also default configuration. Shouldn’t this one be marked as regression or is this flag not available in kde bug tracker?
Also in Debian sid. Why unconfirmed?
Plasma 5 is under heavy development. The devs probably have not the time to mark reports as confirmed. Anyway it’s fixed in kf 5.14 and plasma 5.4. Thanks and keep on the good work.
Oops, sorry for the slightly incomplete information. ;-) It seems to be fixed for systray applets, but not for the separate control bar plasma-nm applet (other control bar applets (including battery applet) also did not seem to be affected). So the control bar plasma-nm applet would still need a fix. Thanks in advance.
I can confirm KF 5.14 and Plasma 5.4 do *not* fix the issue. Now both kf 5.14 and Plasma 5.4.1 are in Fedora release, I updated and found the problem is still as described originally. Just to clarify: from systray everything works as expected but when used as a widget on the panel they don't.
Well actually let me do a small correction to my previous comment: the systray situation is better, but still glitchy for some widgets like the battery one as shown in attachment #93882 [details] from comment #8 and this is still the case with updated components
I can confirm this bug with Plasma Desktop 5.4.2 and Frameworks 5.15.0. It really happens only if the widget is added to the panel individually. In the systray, the popup is fine.
Update about version: problem is still present in kf5 5.16 + plasma 5.4.3 for me (still on Fedora 22)
Update about version: with kf5 5.17 + plasma 5.5.1 (again on Fedora 22) situation seems better. While still undersized (connect button and connection name do overlap quite a bit and it is much smaller than the popup from the systray) the plasma-nm widget is now usable from the panel! The battery widget popup is still undersized as well, plus it missed a scroll bar in case multiple applications are preventing laptop power save.
Created attachment 96531 [details] Screenshot showing fixed plasma-nm window and package versions Seems to be finally fixed in kf 5.17 with plasma 5.5.2. Kde-Apps are at 15.08.3, for the unlikely case, that they had any relevance.
Ok, I got now, what you mean, but I don’t see any overlapping in the window and regarding the size: As long, as the content is shown completely, I doubt, that this is an issue. By the way, in this version, I also don’t see an undersized battery widget. The widget icon itself is still undersized, though. Last but not least: If you want to resize the widget windows, just open a enhancement request. Linux is about customization and this would be a nice feature for extending that. There could be a resize mode button on the windows, popping up, when hovering widgets in control bar edit mode. Pressing it would temporary make bar editing mode inactive and open the resizable, but besides that also functionless window (to prevent accidental actions). Could be possible, I guess.
For me the content of the battery widget is not shown completely and I have no way of displaying it other than putting the widget on the desktop, see the attachments. Resizing the popup might help but, to be honest, I would rather go for option B: the popup should have the same size regardless where it comes from. If it comes from a widget on a panel it should have the same size as a widget in the systray. Consistency in the UI is good isn't it? Maybe it's just personal preference though. That said the major usability issue is solved, this is a lesser problem
the problem is actually in the networkmanager plasmoid, as it doesn't export any Layout.minimumWidth/minimumHeight in its full representation, which is mandatory. same thing for the battery monitor
(In reply to Marco Martin from comment #22) > the problem is actually in the networkmanager plasmoid, as it doesn't export > any Layout.minimumWidth/minimumHeight in its full representation, which is > mandatory. > same thing for the battery monitor Ok then, opened bug #362734 for the network widget and bug #362735 for the battery widget and used this one soft of as a tracker. Thank you for looking into this
Fixed a long time ago.
