Description Jessie A. Morris 2013-04-19 15:45:07 UTC
I have several people in my address books and in my "Recent Addresses". I create a new email and go to the "To" field. I type "k" trying to get the kylie address to populate. Then this occurs: http://imgur.com/dJkxaCm I then type "y" in, expecting to get "kylie" as the item selected. Instead, this happens: "http://imgur.com/vlo76lf" I get keithlund@mac.coy. The cursor was placed at the end of the email address rather than where my application was at.

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
"keithlund@mac.coy" is selected

Expected Results:
Results having "ky" are displayed and the first is displayed in the autocomplete box.

Similar problem when just editing email address with del or backspace.
When cursor inside address it moved to end.
KMail 4.10.3.

I first found this bug but bug 318432 was reported previously.

This is really not the same as 318432 if you read. They are having issues with auto completion, and also the cursor moving. The other bug is about editing existing emails already typed, NOTHING to do with auto completion. Granted the cursor moving could be due to auto completion, but that is NOT what is in bug 318432. Its similar, but NOT an exact duplicate. The problem in 318432 is if you have an email addressed already typed, and you go to correct that, remove the name, etc. after ever character entered the cursor jumps to the end. Thus its similar to the issue described initially in this bug, but they are NOT the same, might be related, but NOT duplicate bugs. Seems someone rather close bugs as duplicates than see they are resolved. Seems this issue effects 2 different things, auto completion as mentioned in this bug, and editing emails already typed as in bug 318432.

It is not as 318432, and it's still unresolved.
I'm facing the very same problem, that forces me to erase an address every time I have to edit it.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 9 William L. Thomson Jr. 2016-09-27 00:17:55 UTC
I believe this has been resolved. I do not recall experiencing this in some time. I am on kmail2 4.14.20. I think can close as resolved.
