Version: 0.1 (using KDE 4.4.95) OS: Linux Not enough that encryption is disabled per default for PPTP VPNs (see bug 246583), NM also sometimes disables it again. It seems like this can happen when a connection fails (due to wrong GRE conntrack entries at the NAT router). Reproducible: Sometimes Qt: 4.7.0 KDE Development Platform: 4.4.92 (KDE 4.4.92 (KDE 4.5 RC2)) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-24-generic Compiler: cc
I have a similar problem. When I change settings which are not connected to authentication, NM resets the authentication settings completely (encryption, authentication methods)
I forgot to mention, that I use KDE 4.7 and the plasma widget which synaptic tells me has version 0.9~svngit20110728-0ubuntu3~natty1~ppa5
My KDE lost all Wireless passwords... I had KDE wallet disabled. Fedora 15 KDE 4.6.5
Does this problem happens with Plasma NM 0.8.90? http://lamarque-lvs.blogspot.com/2011/10/new-version-after-first-release-plasma.html
I have 0.9
I am talking about Plasma NM version, not NetworkManager's.

That is the version Fedora uses for its kde-plasma-networkmanagement package, which is not the official version number. The official latest version number is 0.8.90, which was released by me last Sunday. Anyway, your package is more than a month old, so Plasma NM 0.8.90 is newer, that is what I wanted to know. Please upgrade to a newer version and test if this problem still happens.
Caterpillar, your problem does not seem related to the original bug report. Please open a new bug report if it still happens with Plasma NM 0.8.95. The original bug report is about Plasma NM for NM-0.8, that Plasma NM version is deprecated and unmaintained. I will close this bugs as UNMAINTAINED. Re-open it if you can reproduce it with Plasma NM 0.8.95.
