Version: (using KDE 4.3.5) OS: Linux Installed from: Mandriva RPMs When trying to extract from an password-protected rar archive via context menu (Extract here ... or Extract here and auto-detect subfolder) it does nothing, not even an notification that it failed. On next login you have as much Ark windows open as there were failed attemts to extract. This worked before at least for KDE 4.3.2, if i remember correctly. The problemabout the notification and the general behaviour was reported in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=184391 The strange thing is, when using ark --batch on the same file, it works as expected: It pops out a dialog asking for the password, and extracts the archive when the correct password was entered. Please let me know what additional information can be provided to fix this regression.
Seems this does not work for all rar archives. From three archives, that didn't extract via context-menu, only one works with ark --batch as described. The other two archives don't work at all, ark --batch on the archive does nothing and even can't be exited with Ctrl+C. They don't show any difference when extracting with unrar directly.
I must add that extraction via the context menu worked at least once as expected and i could enter a password and the archive got extracted. Maybe this is a problem with some sort of cache for ark or so?
After some additional search, this looks close to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206884
