Description Frank Steinmetzger 2010-04-24 00:15:30 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

When KNode is the active Kontact component, pressing Ctrl+N to start a new article (as I was used from Kontact from KDE3) only yields in an error message about ambiguous shortcuts. Of course, the shortcut for KNode->Post to newsgroup is set to Ctrl+N. But I can't unassign Kontact's own Ctrl+N, apparently because this is only the parent of a popup menu without an own action assigned to it.

Dealing again with the problem, I removed the default shortcut Ctrl+N to KNode’s “Post to Newsgroup” action. The menu in Kontact still says File -> New Article... (Ctrl+N) -> New Message/New Contact/New..., but now pressing Ctrl+N actually opens a KNode composer window. Obviously KNode and Kontact get into each other’s way.

This bug is still valid in 5.6.3 on Debian testing (17.08.3 bundle). Even though KNode is not even installed (which makes it impossible to remove the shortcut there).

Actually it happens in KMail here...

In 5.14.3, the ambiguity warning pops up if Contacts, Feeds, or Popup Notes is selected.
