I have the same problem, after upgrade to 4.4 beta 2 kopete doesn't work. It crahes on start. My kopete is version: 4:4.3.80. Maybe that is the problem?

i noticed that i only had this problem when i had a dual monitor set up, after droping the second monitor kopete started to work again. and this was before the 4.4 beta2 release.

Workaround for this crash: Remove the contents of the folder "/var/tmp/kdecache-$USERNAME/kpc/" (which stores the (corrupted) pixmap cache)
