Description Charles A. Landemaine 2006-12-16 02:51:02 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
OS: FreeBSD

When I change the font face and the font size in the K Control Center, it only takes effect in Qt applications but not in Gtk applications. I found out why. K Control Center doesn't changes ~/.gtkrc-2.0 files

It should change also this file. For instance, content of ~/.gtkrc-2.0 can be:

gtk-font-name="Sans Serif 10"

Yep, agreed. There's no particular reason why you would expect or want to use a totally different font and size for GTK apps vs KDE or Qt apps. The Fonts KCM should set this for GTK apps too.

 kcmshell5 kde-gtk-config

does it via button font "choose"

but it is highly unergonomic to have this separate, like 8 clicks away from the KDE font settings.

They belong together in a single dialogue, from a user perspective.

maybe for a while, the old gtk-button should navigate / link to the KDE-font dialog

while we're at it, we could also link to the font settings of Konsole in the same dialogue.
