Description Sven Carstensen 2006-08-22 10:13:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

With Twinview enabled it is not possible to put icons on the second desktop.

I've got the same problem.
All icons stay on my left screen(1), no matter what I do.
When I try to drag them to the right screen(2) it seems as if the move was just cancelled (like pressing ESC).
When I rightclick the desktop, select Icons and Line Up Horizontally, they show up on the right screen for like 100ms, then kdesktop seems to realize that it should show the icons on the left monitor only and aligns them horizontally, but on the left monitor only (as if the right one doesn't exist).

I don't agree with the severity of this bug, which is whishlist atm, as it was possible to show icons on other screens in prior versions to 3.5.2, which is my current version. Severity should be normal in my oppinion.

I found out that you can put icons on the second desktop when you disable "icons --> align to grid". But when you restart KDE your icons are on your first desktop again.

This is a bug. It seems to be a duplicate of Bug 116341 (which in turn is marked as a DUPLICATE of Bug 122001, though I am not sure this is really the case). There is shell script attached to Bug 116341 which fixes/works around this problem.

Bug still present in KDE 3.4.6 (Gentoo)
Comment 5 Shane Mc Cormack 2007-02-08 00:38:48 UTC
Confirmed in KDE 3.5.6 (from KUbuntu.org)

When align to grid is unchecked, I can move icons to Screen2, when it is ticked, they are forced to Screen1. (Row is correct, Column is incorrect. it appears that the last column on Screen1, extends to the whole width of Screen2)

Screen2 is to the right of Screen1 in my setup.

Qt: 3.3.6
KDE: 3.5.6
kde-config: 1.0

I can confirm this bug on debian etch 4.0, kde 3.5.6, and on my other partition using Kubuntu Edgy with kde 3.5.6.

I think this bug is duplicate of 122001, as I can place icons on the other monitor disabling align to grid..
Comment 9 David Faure 2009-04-07 10:51:57 UTC
Is this still an issue with KDE 4.2 ?
Comment 10 Chao Feng 2013-11-15 23:48:13 UTC
From Bug 122001, this bug does not exist in KDE4. Please reopen if you still have this problem in plasma.
