Probably yet another duplicate of bug #223034 (which is said to be fixed in 4.5). but kubuntu 11.04 alpha uses KDE 4.6, and it is far from fixed. (In reply to comment #2) > uses KDE 4.6 Sorry, I should have been more specific. That other bug report claimed it was fixed in Kontact 4.5. I can't test this myself since I have Kontact 4.4.9 (with KDE 4.4.5). Your original posting states that you have Kontact 4.4.10, so I think we both cannot enjoy the said fix yet. ah ok, sorry. So, let's hope this version finds its way to kubuntu soon ! I also tried to use contact groups (alias distribution lists). I have two issues with them: 1. If I want to create such a list within Kmail's button "Save list..." in the mail editor I have a list within kaddressbook, but all recipients are created as new contacts with name and email only even if I have all recipients and mails already in the addressbook (I have two "Personal Contacts" ressources in akonadi pointing to two directories with vcard3 single files as respective sources) 2. If I create a contact group manually in kaddressbook issue 1 does not appear. But when I want to use such a contact group as recipient of a new email, kmail actually do not use these emails. Instead the email is sent to "Testitout@robby-travelmate-6292" ("contact group name@local host name") about my system: Kubuntu 10.10 Qt 4.7.0 PIM Version 4.6 beta4 KMail Version 2.0.89 KAddressBook Version 4.6 beta4 I hope my mal-behaviour description fits this bug? Otherwise I can post it separately? For me, distribution lists is a quite essential feature for an email programm. Thus the priority level should be reconsidered? I think this bug report aggregates too many points. > 1. Instead the email is sent to > "Testitout@robby-travelmate-6292" ("contact group name@local host name") This works for me with KDE PIM 4.6. > * create a "new contact group", call it "mylist", and enter the member "foo" > > BUG ******-> the email address of foo is not selected! you have to enter it > *manually* ! I'm not sure whether the addressbook should always assume that you want to add people to the list that you already have in your addressbook. And of course there can be more than one foo. Anyway, this would be one issue. > * ok, I enter it manually. > *** now I want to send a mail to the group "mylist". How do I do it ?? > I think a right-click should propose "send email to the list" This sounds like a feature request to me. You can enter the list's name in kmail's composer to send an email to that list. > * So click on the kmail tab -> New message and click "select" next to the > address bar. > *****BUG : a small window pops up, letting you select contacts, but this is > *empty* ! Works for me with KDEPIM 4.6. So I suggest closing this report and opening new ones, one per issue/feature request. This works by now. Please reopen if you can still not get groups working with KDE 4.8 sendind emails to contact groups does not work in Kubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal Beta 2 (KDE 4.9) --> see Bug 270141 should I change the status of this bug, or simply deal with Bug 270141? (In reply to comment #9) > should I change the status of this bug, or simply deal with Bug 270141? Make sure that nepomuk semantic desktop is enabled. If that is the case, try enabling email indexing, for some reason that is required for address completion, could affect sending to groups too. Wait for contacts to be indexed, if they are not already. (In reply to comment #10) > Make sure that nepomuk semantic desktop is enabled. Wait for contacts to be > indexed, if they are not already. You get a huge warning in kmail's composer if nepomuk is disabled. thus I think that's not it. yes but your group is not indexed. In master there is a tools to look at what is indexed or not. kdepim-runtime/agents/nepomukfeeder/util/nepomukpimindexerutility Le 04/10/2012 19:39, S. So this bug is indeed fixed and improving the usability, i.e. do not make the user wait before distribution lists work, is tracked at bug 307948 |
