Description S. Christian Collins 2009-09-13 16:14:07 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

* Bug Description: *
With compositing enabled, the minimize/restore zoom animation doesn't always zoom to the taskbar, but rather another area on the screen. This seems to happen with taskbar entries that are stacked into one--for example, the GIMP with several images open. The zoom effect seems to be positioned based on the screen location of the stacked entry (as seen by clicking on the taskbar entry). This is less confusing if you just look at the attached screenshot, which contains some commentary.

I can see why the developers programmed it this way, but it causes scenarios where things just look weird. For example, having multiple images open in GIMP, one of which is a small window near the bottom of the screen: when minimizing the small image, it appears to zoom straight back, or off to the side rather than to the taskbar.

Reassigning to Plasma. Please check if the Icon Geometry should be set to the taskbar entry or to the list entry. In my opinion it should be the taskbar entry

It doesn't seem to occur with the Smooth Tasks plasmoid on 4.4.3

SVN commit 1134209 by aseigo:

whenever the group popup hides, re-publish the geometry to be absolutely sure that minimize effects go the right place

it's not necessarily the same source, but bug #278871 shows the same issue and is apparently related to bug #246838 as well.
