Libre.fm seems to be in a prototype stage. There are probably about 7 people on the planet which use the service, so we won't be implementing it. Perhaps we can revise these details if the situation changes. Please make the SCROBBLER URL in the audioscrobbler plugin be runtime-configurable so it can be used with libre.fm, and other services. @Matt: Sorry, we won't make these sorts of changes for developers of applications who need them for their convenience. You have two options: edit the source of Amarok, or change your hosts file. Well, 7 days ago he said there was just 7 users... Cool!!! It means the libre.fm grows EXPONENTIALLY... because today there are **268 users**!!! ;D Statistics from: http://turtle.libre.fm/ 73740 gobbles. 168589 tracks. 268 users. today. I use Amarok because it rocks! =D And I'd like to see a plugin like the lastfm plugin, for libre.fm thanks you! =D I guess it would be a open helping another open, and I guess it's fine =) *** Bug 190213 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I use Amarok as well as last.fm. I would prefer to send my usage data to a free (libre) service such as libre.fm. I hope Amarok will do all it can to facilitate its users having a choice between services which support the last.fm API, and encourage its users to use a free (libre) service. A plugin would be acceptable, given libre.fm's currently small userbase. (In the future, it may be significantly larger, especially if future services implement the last.fm API, perhaps by re-using code from libre.fm.) Either way, let's make it happen! *** This bug has been confirmed by popular vote. *** Statistics 1355820 gobbles. 171367 tracks. 2472 users. Statistics 1355820 gobbles. 171367 tracks. 2472 users. I think they are working on it http://identi.ca/notice/3682770 *** Bug 192088 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 192479 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 193436 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Current statistics for libre.fm: 6439290 listens. 1226747 unique tracks. 8465 users. And listens would be more if I could send mines with Amarok or listen to music in the website with Konqueror (Is it posible with Firefox?) :) I miss Amarok, but songbird are pleasure me =] At least it post to alpha.libre.fm/user/henry :) Henry: your comment is not useful at all, what do you expect us to do? Miracles? Implementing that takes time so just be patient. Bashing is just lame... Maybe this can help: http://www.nögel.de/pyjama/ This software has already support for Libre.fm, and is GPL(v3) licensed. This was marked as SOLVED. Now is marked as REOPENED. After, people just ignore the ask for libre.fm and marked, fastly, as resolved. It was looking like a topic solved not solved: ignored. Now I guess its okay, reopened thank you! I'd like to scrobble to both: last.fm and libre.fm All that has to be done at the moment is to duplicate the current scrobbler plugin with a new name and new scrobble server address ;-) Please use this script: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Amarok2LibreFM?content=107339 At least for now, we have no plans to add librefm support directly into Amarok. KDEMicroBlog added identi.ca support, so now you can, with the same widget, work with Twitter and Identi.ca (not at the same time). I guess Last.fm plugin could be changed to "Scrobbling" plugin, and just make the same plugin configurable either for Last or Libre, just like the plasma widget for microblogging does. Oh! And just for the record: 12965030 listens. 2287275 unique tracks. 15256 users. Adrian, stop it, you are not useful. You should instead read comment #22 correctly and use that script, this is available since several weeks already. Closing this as fixed, just use that script, this is considered the solution from our side. Else, provide a patch we can implement, but don't expect it to go into the Amarok code, even last.fm is an optional dependency now. *** Bug 208409 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 231780 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Libre.fm plugin from first post isnt good solution. First of all, it is complicated for installing. Second of all it has external dependencies (for what? if last.fm plugin dont need anything external, and libre.fm uses same protocol and only thing changed is server name?). IMO Amarok team should encourage people to use opensource alternative, by doing libre.fm plugin similar to existing last.fm plugin. Isnt that simple, as copying existing amarok plugin code to new one and changing url to turtle.libre.fm ? 1. also our Last.fm plugin requires liblastfm, which is an external dependency 2. last think I heard the protocol is not 100% identical, if it was you could simply manipulate your /etc/hosts and would be done 3. if you think it is that simple to support: why not follow your own steps you sketched and implement it yourself? Really, we have way more urgent issues atm. And as much as I encourage to use services and software that are free as in freedom (people would say I'm a hardliner in that regard): this is not (yet) one of them. So be patient or follow my third remark. Ad2. Ive read on libre.fm wiki that editing hosts.conf actually helps with players on which any other option isnt possible. Unfortunately im very poor C programmer, and dont have any idea about SVN/GIT, so i must wait with a patience. This is obviously not solved: there is a plugin but what is being asked here is native support (no plugins needed). You can of course give it no priority at all, but marking it as "SOLVED" is just erroneous. So mark it as WONTFIX and get on with other more important stuff. Please do not reopen wishes we closed. Use the script, there will be no native support, we have more important things to fix in the little time we have. Instead of adding support for libre.fm, or any other of these systems, making the last.fm audioscrobbler URL configurable would not be better? |
