+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #188952 +++ Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources Most recently a new free project appeared: Libre.fm is a Libre alternative to Last.fm. It implements the same scrobbling API as Last.fm (called gobbling in Libre.fm), so adding support to "gobbling to Libre.fm" is just duplicating Last.fm's scrobbling functionality but replace post.audioscrobbler.com with turtle.libre.fm . More info about this: http://lists.autonomo.us/pipermail/libre-fm/2009-April/000034.html Thanks! Libre.fm is a free software project -- I don't understand why applications like Amarok would not want to support it? We have many users who are requesting Amarok support -- what should we tell them?
yes, I'm a user of Amarok and I always show Amarok and kubuntu to my friends... Most of them don't know Amarok... Well... Now I'm interested in libre.fm and it would be perfect if Amarok has a plugin for it. I'm just a user. thanks =)
I think the best way to fix this would be allow the user to configure where they would like their 'scrobbles' sent -- could be last.fm, could be libre.fm, could be localhost. Leaving it up to the user would be good :)
I am adding my support for Amarok to make the scrobble site configuarble in some way. Thank you
Matt, like I said in the previous report - no. We aren't going to hijack the Last.fm service so that you can use it with Libre.fm. I have just detailed a proposed plan for third party plugin devs which you were CC'd to, which would allow you to create a libre.fm plugin, and release it independent of Amarok proper. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 188952 ***
We're not asking for the 'hijacking' of last.fm -- we're asking that users be able to configure which server their data is sent to.
