Description

Can you reproduce this at will with an updated KDE + Qt build ? Thanks Didn't use that system for a while. Did a full upgrade today (current SuSE factory level). After the upgrade the (bottom) panel was completely messed up (rendering completely broken; essentially nothing painted in the size or position where is should have painted). Deleted panel and started adding applets again. All was fine until once again I tried to add the logout-applet. Then rendering went wild again with e.g. the systray painting itself vertically in the top middle of the desktop outside of any panel and the other applets also positioned randomly across the desktop with random large sizes... should have taken a screenshot :/ So... I still have a problem with adding a logout-applet to the panel, but I currently don't get any crashes anymore... Ok. I'm going to close this report as WORKSFORME as the original crash is gone. Please report your panel messed up in a new report. Thanks a lot. I can reproduce it on KDE 4.3.4 (openSUSE 11.2). After first dropping of plasmoid on the panel, an empty space appears and no plasmoid gets started in there. After second dropping of plasmoid, Plasma crashes. @Jakub: if you are still experiencing the bug, could you provide a backtrace using the CrashHandler dialog ? (your crash may be a different one) Regards Seems gone on 4.4.0. plasma-desktop (0.4) on KDE Platform 4.6.5 (4.6.5) using Qt 4.7.3
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Adding Lock/Logout Widget to Taskbar panel
- Unusual behavior I noticed:
For some reason, when you hover over a desktop selection in the desktop pager icon in the taskbar it lets you drop a widget onto one of the mini screens. Not sure if related but why would a widget allow you to drop another widget onto it?

So ->) 2nd time, frozen system again, but I had to logout (ctrl+alt+suppr) to unblock my screen (and of course still no trashcan on my pannel, it's reason why ->) 3rd time I try again to drag that damned trashcan plasmoid onto the pannel and the whole plasma desktop crashed, creating at least a report to send to you... I found a different way to force installation of my trashcan by dropping the file trash.desktop onto the pannel to create a link, but I wonder why the plasmoid doesn't work anymore (I used it a lot on past installations without pb...). Hope this could help, thanks for a wonderful desktop that I would never exchange for any number Windoze could produce... The crash can be reproduced sometimes. -- Backtrace: Application: Outil de gestion de fenêtres Plasma (plasma-desktop), signal: Segmentation fault Using host libthread_db library "/lib/i686/libthread_db.so.1". gobject.pyc: gdb was not built with custom backtrace support, disabling. https://bugs.kde.org/ Hello! This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug has already been resolved in Plasma 5. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
