Description Luke Sandell 2003-12-14 01:38:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.94)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: GCC 3.3.2
OS: Linux

I want to position the toolbar and address bar side by side in konqueror (in "top" orientation, of course). When I place the address bar to the right of the toolbar, everything sizes fine. But if I place the address bar to the left of the toolbar, the address bar is shrunk down to its minimum allowed size, while the toolbar takes up lots of unnecessary space. The size policy needs to change so that the space is distributed more equally.

How did you achieve this effect? I am trying to put address bar next to main toolbar without effect. It works for one day or two at the best and later each toolbar is in separate row :(

Same problem here with address bar and relinks toolbar.
Bad thing about this is that it is the default position.

Something similar: When you use the adress bar right of a toolbar, and the adress bar contains long URL's, The adress bar is displayed below the other toolbar. Also quite anoying if you have to clear your history every time :-)

Well the attachment in comment #4 seems to be corrupt, so here's a link to a screenshot showing the problem:
http://mushroomstamp.ca/bugs/70359.png

The screenshot shows how the address bar is moved to the next line down, when it should be on the same line as the buttons. If I increase the width of the window by 1 pixel, the address bar will move into the same line as the buttons.

As mentioned, long URLs in the history cause this problem. URLs in the history should be shortened (with ...) to fit the current line.

I cannot put the address bar neither to the right nor to the left of the main tool bar. Is there minimum size restriction on the address bar?
I think it's length should just automatically adapt to whereever I drop it.

3.5 has that Simple Browser profile, just load konqueror with option
--profile simplebrowser
