Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources This is similar to the WONTFIX bug #155800 except I think it is different because it is inconsistent. If you manage files with the Folder view then _sometimes_ the copy file dialog appears and closes the dashboard, sometimes it does not. It should either do one or the other, I agree with #155800 that it is annoying to be managing widgets on the dashboard and to have to keep reactivating it so I would prefer that any long running copy dialogs appear as plasmoids when managing in the dashboard layer. Maybe it would be possible to allow plasmoids to open either plasma based dialogs or standard Qt ones? If the dashboard is showing and a new dialog is shown, then it would open a plasmoid shell with the dialog inside, otherwise it opens a standard Qt window.
Well, I'll mark this a fixed since the copy dialog is now an extender plasmoid, and since I no longer observe this problem anymore. If someone keeps having problems, please reply and I'll reopen it! :-)
The problem with copy progress is now gone, but there is a small problem if you are deleting files and the 'Do you really want to delete this' dialog pops up, it closes the dashboard.

I can reproduce this on r958058.
Just checked here: Qt: 4.6.0 (Qt git branch 4.6 commit f3d15516572394b6bcd44a89dd66516fa4eba56e Date: Fri Sep 25 10:21:23 2009 +1000) KDE: 4.3.69 (KDE 4.3.69 (KDE 4.4 >= 20090923)) kdelibs svn rev. 1028323 / kdebase svn rev. 1028324 on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.30.6 If I try to delete a file from a FolderView(showing desktop:/), in Dashboard mode, the "Confirm Deletion" dialog will not exit the Dashboard mode. In fact, I can properly delete files over and over... It is fixed for me. - Can anyone else confirm this ? Regards
please reopen if somebody can reproduce with kde 4.4 (beta 1 or later)
Closing for lack of feedback. Please feel free to reopen this report if you can still reproduce this with KDE 4.8.3 or later.
