Description pgoodw 2000-11-14 08:40:51 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kppp
Version: 2.0
Severity: normal
Installed from: Mandrake 7.2

When I run Kppp I can connect to my ISP no probem. The DNS entries I entered for Kppp are being entered into /etc/resolv.conf twice - one set are commented as Kppp the other as ppp.

When I exit Kppp the Kppp entries are removed but the ppp entries are not.

This doesn't appear to cause any problems though it might if I use more than one ISP.

Pete

Comment 1 Allen Barnett 2000-12-18 21:20:58 UTC
In addition to putting two copies of the DNS addresses in
/etc/resolv.conf KPPP 2.0.2 also does not respect NOT setting the
'disable
existing dns servers during connection'. It overwrites any DNS addresses
which already exist in resolv.conf regardless and does not restore
them on disconnection.

Thanks

This seems to happen when the domain name is not set.
In other words if you want to disable the existing dns servers
you must set a non empty domain name.

Otherwise you will get the existing dns servers before
the ones added by kppp despite having checked
the 'disable existing dns' box.
This is extremely confusing.

This is still true in the 2.2 branch.

FreeBSD 4.8 RC
KDE 3.1.0
Installed from ports

This does not appear to be a problem anymore. Kppp writes to /etc/resolv.conf
correctly. This bug report should be closed. Note: I have also used Kppp
satisfactorily in Mandrake 8.2 and Mandrake 9.0.. This bug appears to be fixed.

Seems to work fine for me as well. Marking WORKSFORME.
Comment 6 Denis SABATIER 2004-08-04 21:13:59 UTC
In kppp 2.1.4 on a Mandrake 10.0 I have exactly the problem described by Allen
Barnett: disabling other DNS does not work when no domain name is provided. Is
this corrected ?
