Version:           1.7.91 (using KDE 3.3.91 (beta1) Level "a" , SUSE 9.2 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.10

cannot send mails using authentication for smtp.
error message: 

"Authentifizierung fehlgeschlagen, An error occured during authentication: SASL(-4): no mechanism available: No worthy mechs found wird nicht unterstützt"

No problems with latest stable version of kmail, so i think my configuration is ok.

Settings: TLS, plain

please install cyrus sasl and its auth mechanisms
