Description peppelorum 2004-10-20 12:46:12 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

When I use fish:// with konqueror Kwallet stores my username and password just fine. I would like to have the same possibilities when using smb:// with konqueror, is this possible to arrange?

Would be nice if Kwallet maybe could handle all the protocols supported by the kio-slaves, just a thought;-)
Comment 1 George Staikos 2004-11-03 00:00:11 UTC
It does already?? Does SMB use some password mechanism other than KIO?
Comment 2 Stephan Kulow 2004-11-03 00:03:18 UTC
I don't see how. You're really talking about smb:/ or about some smb://server ?

I don't see any "save password"-checkbox as I see when using fish://.

I can confirm this and would really really like to have the ability to store username/password in my kwallet for smb://<server>/<share> urls.

This is basically a duplicate of Bug 26075, which has been marked as "fixed" (but isn't). PLEASE, pretty please implement this. I would like to be able to use Konq's SMB integration without having to re-enter my password all the time.

Thanks! :)

Any progress on this issue? =)
If you want some more information just say what and I'll bring it!
I think the screenshot is confirmation for this bug.

I'd be curious to see if there is any update on this - or if it has been delayed to KDE 4. I'm on 3.5 under openSUSE and use smb shares in an Active Directory domain every day.

In KDE4.2 beta2 there is still no posibility to store samba passwords in kwallet.
Comment 13 Angel Blue01 2009-03-04 03:48:23 UTC
While of course KDE will prompt for a password when connecting to an smb share it doesn't prompt to save in Kwallet in KDE 4.2

May I ask to which KDE version will the fix go? Thanks.
Comment 20 Carlo Segato 2009-12-01 22:08:28 UTC
only in 4.4 since it's a new feature even if I would consider it a bug too since it's just a missing line that someone probably forgot to add
Comment 21 Todd 2012-03-09 14:19:28 UTC
This problem is back in KDE 4.8
Comment 22 Patrick Peronny 2012-07-12 07:34:56 UTC
I'll have to agree. Kwallet no longer prompt for smb share in KDE 4.8. Works correctly for fish or ftp. Tried a new ~/.kde with no luck.

4.7.x : ok
4.8.4 : nook
Comment 23 Francois Prunier 2012-08-06 12:26:58 UTC
Not working for me either in 4.8.4.
Comment 24 Alessio Cassibba (X-Drum) 2012-09-06 17:28:56 UTC
The same problem shows up on 4.9.0 and 4.9.1 releases as per bug #293158
