Description Boldizsar Nagy 2004-09-27 18:48:07 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

After upgrading to KDE 3.3 using SuSE supplementary RPMS, menu editing does not work. If i add a new entry, or modify an existing, and press save, nothing changes in KDE menu. If i stop and start kmenu again everything i'd modified before is lost.

On the console the error message appears every time i press save button:
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
  Major opcode: 20
  Minor opcode: 0
  Resource id: 0x4401b8d

the desktopfile is created in ~/.local/share/applications
it is in ~/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu

I have the same issue on my KDE 3.5 system, running Slackware 10.2.

Often my menu edits don't show up. Removed items are still there, new menus are not.

It isn't consistent. Sometimes it will work.

Another odd thing is that sometimes my edits will work, but then the next time I start KDE, the menu has reverted back to what it was before my edits.

I have verified this is not corruption in my old KDE metadata by creating a totally new UNIX user account and having that user start fresh with KDE. Same problems.
