I guess the history plugin would need to support saving custom extra data with messages?

I dunno. How would having those help to follow a conversation (as in the report)? Ali, could you clarify the request please? Regardless I think this is a wish and not a bug
Well yes I will try (sorry I was away for vacation so it took a while for me to reply). Ok when saving an IRC Log to a Text file (as ASCII Text) then no usernames are saved which makes it hard to follow conversation afterwards. Example: ---[how xchat and other programs does it]--- <nimrod> hello galaxy how are you? <galaxy> hello nimrod i am doing fine! -------------------------------------------- ---[how kopete does it]--------------------- hello galaxy how are you? hello nimrod i am doing fine! -------------------------------------------- Now imagine there has been a half an hour conversation that I wanted to capture now who said what ? I think that Kopete IRC-Log should and must contain the User names and on demand the Time and Date as well.
Any progress here ? I saw that Kopete is now able to save nick names in conversations. Unfortunately it does only with nicks using a ':' after nick name e.g. "<galaxy>: hello" but not if there is no ':' after nick name. Looks like this needs some little more work.
In case someone is working on this (and there used to be huge code refactoring in the IRC plugin) I would like to ask the new plugin maintainer whether something in this area has been done. I ask because it would be pretty nice to see open bugs closed when fixed.
