Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux When you right-click any file in KDE (on the desktop or in konqueror) and choose "properties", a new window pops up showing some file properties. It would be convenient to show the MD5-checksum of the selected file in this window, too. For a similar situation where this wish is already implemented, see the CD-burning software K3b. When you choose "Tools --> CD --> Burn CD image" in K3b and select a file in the window that pop ups, K3b calculates the MD5-checksum of the selected iso-file. While calculating the checksum, K3b shows a process bar. I think the MD5-checksum of a file could also be displayed in the file-properties-window of kdesktop.
This has been implemented in KIO 5.25
