Version: 1.6.2 (using KDE 3.2.2, (testing/unstable)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian 20040401) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22-xfs Kmail is very flexible because of seperated Identites and Send/Receive Accounts. This is a pro, but can be a con when creating several accounts: Most pop/smtp Mail services have the same access data for sending and receiving. But with kmail, I have to do these steps one after another: - create identity - create pop3-account (enter mailserver, username, password) - create smtp-account (enter mailserver, username, password) - set the corresponding account to be the default method for your identity This can be very tirering - and this is my alternative idea: -> invoke "Profile Pilote" to create new mail account -> Enter your name and email address (for reply-to) -> Select your email provider (gmx, hotmail, web.de, most used MSPs) (alternatively enter smtp/pop3 server manually) -> enter username and password _once_ done. This should be an optional additional way to create accounts. Alternatively, I could imagine to have a button "copy smtp settings" in the pop3-setup (or vice versa) - but such a pilote (or wizzard) could be great for anybody choosing KDE applications for convenience. Thank you Respect Raga
Just one more wish appended: In terms of security, it is wise, to have the checkbox "save password with config file" unchecked by default (even though it is scrambled). This is the case. But if I forget to check it, the alert box that queries the password at mail lookup should have its own checkbox: save password with config file. Thus, I need not re-enter the settings-dialogue ....

If I am not mistaken this reporter ask for option for "tying identity with one smtp /pop setting."

KMail already has such a wizard, but only on first startup. Would be a good Junior Job to make that wizard always available and adopt it to multiple accounts.

With KDE 4.2, that wizard is now also available under Tools->Account Wizard, so I consider this bug as fixed.
