Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: Compiled From Sources OS: Linux Greetings Everybody Email account setup ease is one of the most important aspects for every email client. The current settings setup for pop/smtp remain a bit cryptic to the __uninitiated__ for KMail. To configure any account in setup / receive, we currently go to: configure KMail -> Setup for Sending and Receiving Messages. The problem is simple. There is nothing that _explicitely_ allows the end user to setup pop / smtp in such a way that they seemed and are "paired" if that is the wished behaviour from the beginning. A solution is to make Mail Transport options visible during the email composition process, something that is not the default layout in many distributions (source - based and non). I am aware that there are also _many_ other ways to set this up and force it to have the desired behaviour, but why not make it more straightforward to the _new_ user? Wouldn't it be better if there was a setup/configuration layout in the Setup for Sending and Receiving Messages section of Configure - KMail that allowed the end user to also "pair" a pop server setup with a _specific_ smtp server from the beginning? That option could be a simple drop / down list for example, just like the mail composer presents once you enable Mail Transport drop-down list option but available allready within setup. This is something minor, but handy. This came up several times when I demonstrated the client to friends and advised them to use it. My compliments for the excellent email client I have been using with joy all these years. Thanks, obseleron
I think the best solution is to have a wizard for creating pop3/smtp/imap accounts, like bug 82206 describes. I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 82206 then. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 82206 ***
