Description colesen 2004-05-15 21:57:16 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

Konqueror launches an error popup when I try to use its extract function to extract a tar file and does not extract the tar file.
To reproduce, first create a standard tar file of some files, say of directory ~/abc, from a console window using
$ tar cvfz abc.tar.gz abc
Open Konqueror, put the mouse pointer on abc.tar.gz, click MB3, select "Actions" and then "Extract Here".
A popup shows titled "Error - Ark" saying "I can't fork a decompressor". Click OK on the popup. Another popup shows titled "Error - Ark" saying "An error occurred while trying to open the archive". Click OK on the popup. Another popup shows titled "Error - Ark" saying "An error occurred while opening the archive file:/home/colesen/abc.tar.gz.". Click OK on the popup.
I verified that the archive is extractable by extracting it by hand using
$ tar xvfz abc.tar.gz
