Version: unknown (using KDE 3.2.1, SuSE) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.4-52-default I am using kmail with disconnected IMAP inside kontact. When I start kmail, it show the tip of the day. When I then try to close that window, I can't, because in the background the download of IMAP has been started and the progress window blocks the use of other functions of kmail, including the close button of the tip of the day. From my point of view it would be best to make the status requester non blocking or something like that.
The same thing happens to me with a different requester. When I use KMail at home, The Tip of the Day is blocked by a message box informing that the POP-mail server at my work cannot be reached. Some times the message box is pops under the TotD, which can be quite confusing. Luckily the TotD can be moved out of the way and the message is now visible and dismissable. I suggest that the status requester above and this notification are changed from application modal to top most on the Z-axis, application wide. Since this does not happen with plain KMAil I filed a new bug for Kontact. See bug 81269.
still present with kde 3.2.2
still present with kde 3.2.3
In the upcoming kdepim-3.3 the progress widget is embedded into the KMail main window, so this can't happen anymore.
