Description Anders E. Andersen 2004-05-05 22:16:43 UTC
Version: 0.11.9 (using KDE 3.2.2, (testing/unstable))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian 20040401)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.5

Musicbrainz - http://www.musicbrainz.org/ - provides more accurate cdda metadata than freedb and has a some more advanced features.
I'd like to see support for this database in k3b.
Comment 1 Anders E. Andersen 2006-07-09 11:51:16 UTC
Ehm? What's going on here? I see the Debian packages depend on libmusicbrainz, but I can't find any settings for it inside k3b. There are only settings for cddb.

Is musicbrainz support implemented or what?
Comment 2 Sebastian Trueg 2006-07-09 15:12:20 UTC
There is musicbrainz support but only for the audio project so far. you can
query cd-text for the tracks of an audio project.
Comment 3 Christoph Burger-Scheidlin 2006-09-22 01:09:42 UTC
It seems to be done, is there anything else that is needed to complete this
wish or can it be closed?
Comment 4 Anders E. Andersen 2006-09-22 08:43:44 UTC
Can you give me a couple of days to check it out? I promise to get back to you.
Comment 5 Sebastian Trueg 2006-09-22 08:56:07 UTC
we have musicbrainz support for audio projects but not yet for audio cd
ripping.
Comment 6 Anders E. Andersen 2006-09-22 08:58:11 UTC
Excuse me. I haven't got a friggin clue what you are talking about. :)

What are audio projects? And why would you need musicbrainz for it? I don't get it. Can you elaborate please?
Comment 7 Sebastian Trueg 2006-09-22 10:08:41 UTC
simple: an audio project is a compilation of audio tracks. If you want for
example burn a collection of mp3 files to an audio cd you can do musicbrainz
lookups for the seperate tracks (and cddb for the whole project)
Comment 8 Anders E. Andersen 2006-09-22 10:11:36 UTC
How is that useful? Sorry.. I really don't get it.. Anyway.. Maybe it's not important. This wish is about cd ripping.

As freedb was shut down recently, this should have high priority by now. I'm stuck with manually typing track titles as of now.

Are you saying that the fix for Bug 418421 doesn't work for you?

Ah, I hadn't noticed that, works fine, thank you!
