k3b currently looks up CD information using the freeDB.org service at <http://www.freedb.org/>. According to banner posted on the freeDB.org page, the service will be shutting down at the end of March 2020. So k3b will need to be adapted to use a different service.
k3b can already also use musicbrainz no? What other service is there that is not freedb and not musicbrainz?

I don't understand the purpose of this bug, is it a duplicate of "musicbraing is supposed to be there but doesn't work" or is it a bug saying "we should stop using freedb.org since there's no replacement for it"?
The purpose of this bug is (1) to get k3b to stop using freeDB.org after the end of this month, and (2) to add functionality for a similar service that can be used to look up album information when ripping audio CDs. As far as you and I know, Musicbrainz is the only such similar service. That means that the blocking bug, Bug 80933, needs to be fixed (or verified as being already fixed). If anyone else reading this issue can name another freeDB.org-like service, preferably one that is free to use and uses the same API as freeDB.org, then that would provide an alternative solution to the present bug. (That is, one that might be as easy as replacing all references in k3b to the freeDB.org domain to the domain of the new service.)
