Description Stefan Kombrink 2004-03-29 15:16:23 UTC
Version: 3.2.1 (using KDE 3.2.1, (testing/unstable))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22

Hi Konqueror developers,

at first my thanks for making the browser with the
best UI / featurelist for absolutely no costs at all.

I got an idea for maybe improving the bookmark handling.
I like bookmarks and have plenty of them, assorted in folders,
but handling is still more complicated than it has to be.

The biggest problem is that you got a lot of pop-up menus if you
classify your entries carefully, resulting in a long search.

What if the bookmarks are displayed itself as browsing context.
This would give you a lot of more room!
Using XML in a kind of static tab would let the user customize
the depth and height of the bookmark entries and ease up managing.
Even enhancements like comments or several tags in a bookmark could
be stored!

Don't know that much about XML, but I think the main functionality should therefore stay in the XML bookmark site.
In my opinion the code changes in Konqueror could be kept to a minimum.
Hopefully I could give you an impression of what I'm thinking about and maybe you have some comments on this idea?

There might even be something like that in development that I don't know about...

 bye,
