Description Kevin Yeung 2004-03-24 14:42:11 UTC
Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE KDE 3.2.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

When viewing an encrypted email in KMail running in a VNC session, the prompt that asks for private key password always displays in the console. The VNC KMail session will seem 'hang', pending for the password to be entered. Remote users who don't have console access simply cannot read encrypted email in KMail using VNC at all.

To reproduce this bug, please follow these steps:

0. Have someone send you an encrypted email using KGpg or send yourself one. Leave the email in your inbox.
1. Logon to KDE at the computer (alt-F7, :0)
2. Open a Konsole, and start a VNC server by 'vncserver'. This usually starts the VNC server at :1
3. In Konsole, start 'vncviewer localhost:1' to connect to the session opened in step 2 above.
4. Under this VNC session, start KMail. Double click the encrypted email received in step 0 above.
5. Will see that the passphrase prompt shows in :0, not :1.
