Description osavill 2004-03-09 23:52:47 UTC
Version:           1.6.1 (using KDE 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Mandrake Linux 10.0 3.3.2-6mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.25-0.pre6.2mdk

Having told KMail to use the spam filtering, the only one I have installed is spamassin, KMail became hideously slow. Every mail was launching spamassin and it was taking an age. However, there is no way to turn spam filtering off !! The only way was to rename spamassin itself. This is not good.

The official version 1.6.x of KMail doesn't include the antispam wizard. It will be available in the next version of KMail.

Mandrake added the unfinished antispam wizard to their version of KMail 1.6.x. Of course, they have the right to do this. But then they will also have to cope with the corresponding bug reports.

For now you can remove the spam filters that the antispam wizard created by opening the filter configuration dialog and deleting the filters. The wizard has added up to 4 filters.

To give some additional information:
You can also disable the filter rules created by the wizard (you don't have to delete them). Another approach is to filter all messages you dont wan't to test for spam with filter rules _before_ the spam test filters. Your own filters should have the "stop processing here" setting active.

As already written in another response the wizard is a new feature. There is certainly room for improvements. It would be good if you could send me your impressions regarding the wizard in private mail. Even if you use an old version of the wizard (which wasn't meant to be published) I'm interested in your impressions to check them against the current development implementation.

This information would be nice to have at the end of the Spam-Assistant-Wizard. So everybody knows how to disable it if it doesn't work. I needed some moments to find out that the spam-system is implementet as filter-rules in kmail.

You're right. We should state it more obvious. Reopening but with serverity "wishlist". Due to the string freeze I can change it only for KDE4.
Comment 5 Allen Winter 2006-10-17 15:31:41 UTC
Andreas,

You can make string changes for KDE 3.5.6 as we are currently in a string unfreeze.

I can confirm this bug.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 9 Luigi Toscano 2012-08-19 00:55:32 UTC
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
