Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0) Installed from: RedHat RPMs Compiler: 3.3.2 20031022 (Red Hat Linux 3.3.2-1) OS: Linux When I resize the kmail window, the columns in the message list pane don't resize themselves. This behavior is counter intuitive. Suggested behavior: - Make sure that all columns have a minimum size - Remember the user specified relative sizes (perhaps as a percentage) and apply them. I think this would be a great UI bug to fix.
As GUI issues are a matter of taste and the current behaviour is no bug I set the report to wishlist.
Same here on KDE 3.3.0 - Gentoo 2004.2. Any ETA on this ?
This makes only sense when the columns are made to always take up all available space. FWIW, the columns in Konqueror also don't change size when the window is resized.

I would find it great too when the columns where sized relative to window size (automatically resizing to the window size) instead of its current absolute sizing.

This is not a wish but a bug since a resizing of the pane happens when the window size is reduced. But it does not happen when the window is enlarged. Therefore the behavior is inconsistend, hence a bug. Please change Severity accordingly.
You are right, changing

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.

Please specify the exact release version

This does still happen with kontact 4.14.6
This bug has never been confirmed for a KDE PIM version that is based on KDE Frameworks (5.x). Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the oportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it. Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.1 aka 15.12, preferably more recent), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
