Description Mohd Asif Ali Rizwaan 2003-12-20 00:35:13 UTC
Version: unknown (using KDE 3.1.3)
Installed from: Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.1 (Mandrake Linux 9.2 3.3.1-2mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22-10mdk

Toolbar Customizing is very annoying. I can't have my choice of toolbuttons on one single "Custom Toolbar". Atleast KDE should allow 1-2 custom toolbars where user can add any action to the toolbar.

If there is no possibility of customizing/configuring toolbuttons as the user chooses to be, then, what is the purpose of having "Configure Toolbars" option.

I want to have these actions in Just ONE toolbar, can you show me how can I do that?:

1. UP
2. Back
3. Forward
4. HOME
5. Stop
6. Reload
7. Location (combobox)
8. cut
9. copy,
10. paste
11. Increase font size +
12. Decrease font size -
13. Find Files
14. Find text
15. Split View Left/right
16. Remove View

Though the user assumes that it is possible to have the above actions in 1 toolbar, but it is not possible :( KDE is very weak at toolbars...

I don't understand you. What exactly do you want? All toolbars are customiseable (except for actions that don't have icons).
Comment 2 Mohd Asif Ali Rizwaan 2003-12-22 20:50:52 UTC
try this:

1. open konqueror
2. RMB on location toolbar or goto settings->configure toolbar
3. in the main toolbar try adding the above list 1-16 actions into main toolbar.
4. though you can see that the actions get added, click Apply, Ok.
5. now can you see all the inserted actions in your main toolbar?
6. you can't see the following
      11. Increase font size +
      12. Decrease font size -

still to get the remaining (1-10 and 13=16) only if you remove all actions/icons from other toolbars.

and also 14. find text is not getting added...

I have noticed the same behavior here as well. I try to add icons to a toolbar, but when I hit "Apply" or "OK", they do not appear at all. Besides the "Increase/Decrease font size" buttons, I have unsuccesfully tried to add the"Print Frame" icon.

Concerning the latter, I had removed it, because by default the main toolbar would show the "New tab" icon between the "Print" and "Print Frame" icons. So, at some point in time, I _was_ able to customize my toolbars, but not anymore. Maybe something is wrong in my ~/.kde directory?

I run KDE 3.1.4 from Gentoo Packages. Tell me if you need more information.

Installing KDE 3.1.5, combined with a fresh ~/.kde directory appears to correct the problem. I cannot tell however whether the fault was in the system or my KDEHOME directory. Oh, well...

Hi,

kdelibs (version 4 and earlier) is no longer maintained since a few years.

KDE Frameworks 5 or 6 might already have implemented this wish.

If not, please re-open against the matching framework if feasible or against the application that shows the issue.

We then can still dispatch it to the right Bugzilla product or component.

Greetings
