Description Gogs 2003-12-16 12:04:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc 3.2.2 As supplied with RedHat 9
OS: Linux

Lets say for example konqueror is showing 4 columns of files in a directory. If you select the very top left file (position 1,1 if you know what I mean) and then press the shift button and select say the fifth file down in the second column, I would expect ALL of the first column to be highlighted, and up to the fifth file in the second. This does not happen. What happens is all the files up to the fifth in the first are highlighted, along with all the files up to the fifth in the second. Is this a 'feature' or a bug? To me it's a bit strange...

I should also point out that in MultiColumn view deleting files just leaves 'spaces' on the display, which don't go away until you press F5 (refresh). Should I report that as a separate bug?

I have to agree. This behaviour is indeed strange and makes MultiColumn View a bit uncomfortable to use.
While it might be true to the term "MultiColumn (ICON) View" I think most people would expect MultiColumn View to behave much more like a kind of "List View" (just with several columns) which would mean:

- If you delete files the List gets updated dynamically and redraws its contents

- Moving files away from their current position should not work the way it does now: right now you can drag files around while browsing in MultiColumn View - corrupting any alphabetical (or whatever) order they were supposed to be in. I'd say the value of this can be seriusly doubted because it will be gone when you re-enter this folder.

- shift-selecting should work as described above

Maybe this is not possible or should be done as a seperate "List View" - I don't know. I just think this is what most (new) users would expect such a view to work like.
