Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.3) Installed from: Unspecified Linux OS: Linux Some application (possible options: Ximian Evolution, Mozilla Firebird, XMMS, Kicker) unsets the keyboard repeat option from time to time, so it has to be re-set manually (via preferences) - which is pretty annoying.
kicker surely doesn't change the keyboard repeat option. And what the other listed applications do it is of course out of reach of KDE.
I have this problem to. Have had this since KDE 3.4 I think. I'm using Slackware 10.2. I have no idea that causes this, but I find it very annoying. Suddenly, the keyboard repeat is unset! Could it be some kind of shortcut I accidently pressed or something? Out of the applications you listed, I only use Mozilla Firefox and Kicker.
I'm running Debian with KDE 3.5.5. This keeps happening to me. Apparently it's not fixed.
I am having the same problem. I am running 4.2 on Arch. Apps I run include Kicker, Firefox and Pidgin, but I can't think of any of them unsetting it.

I have this problem also. As mentioned in Bug 184885, I am also running synergyc, so there does seem to be a bug in their code. Maybe this could be turned in to a wishlist item along the lines of "Have KDE lock the keyboard repeat setting" kind of like kwin can fix application issues with the various Special Application Settings.
Having the same problem, I'm on Kubuntu 10.04 (KDE 4.4.2). It occurs while I'm using Kate mainly, and it seems to happen when I'm tabbing out/to kate at times. Difficult to reproduce, seems to happen quite randomly. In System Settings, the box is unchecked, so something is unseting this and KDE notices, so it doesn't seem to be a malfunction. Checking the box makes it work till next itme it happens.
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Kcontrol has been replaced by System Settings in Plasma. Please give the latest version of that a try, and open a new bug in "systemsettings" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
