Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.3) kde version: - can this be retrieved from konqueror browser? distribution method: - can this be set in account preferences? application list: - can this go to the first page, just with the latest list? a user won't choose an application which is not in the kde he is reporting the bug. if an application is decommited, it should not be in the list anyway. - can version and continue button not be on top of "find" too? a usual error is to select something on top, and then expect to click "ok", but on the spot there is the "search" button. possible screen layout: kde version distribution method application(*) list of applications version continue button find list filter keyword search search button list filter should also stay what you selected, and not jump back to default after hitting search.

I don't care much about the other requests, but saving the distribution method and then defaulting to it would be nice. Most people report bugs for only one distribution. Same for KDE version; perhaps bugs.kde.org could simply remember the last version of KDE used in reporting a bug and then default to it for subsequent bug reports.

It would also be nice if the Application List was customizable. I frequently report bugs for applications that aren't on the default shortlist. Through the magic of cookies, perhaps bugs.kde.org could remember which applications I've reported bugs for in the past and use that information to generate the shortlist.
What I find appalling is that while KDE is one of the best application packages I know of, the bug system has been a pain to use for years and nothing ever changes. Reading trough the archives shows that those things have been brought up again and again. Every developer will have to wade through the inconveniences on a regular basis. Still, noone seems be willing to tackle the issue.
Dear KDE Bugzilla people, will you accept patches to fix these problems? Also, where can we see a copy of KDE's modified Bugzilla code? Cheers, Jason Spiro
I agree. Please tell us where to send patches. The bug system sucks in its current state.
The bug tracker doesn't seem to have an active maintainer. I suggest you ask on the developer's list if someone is willing to apply patches or take over maintenance.
In light of the impeding KDE4 release, I am going through all bug reports I am involved in. To the best of my knowledge, this issue is still open.
I've now closed this bugreport. The reason is this: it contains multiple requests, which is hard to track in one bugreport. Second is that the bugreport is old, the layout and the user experience is now a lot better than when the bugreport was first reported. Lastly, we will not implement features that are not available in the upstream version of bugzilla. For example this means that the request for a setting for the version of KDE and distro in the user settings, sounds cool, but can not become reality because it is not in the sources of bugzilla. Sorry that communication has fallen short in this bugreport. For new bugreport we try to process them as soon as possible now.
