Version: 1.5 (using KDE 3.1.0) Installed from: (testing/unstable) Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2 20030131 (Debian prerelease) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20 It would be better if verification of signatures and decryption were backgrounded as another thread, so that you could quickly change to another message without having to wait for verification. Sometimes you don't really want to look at a particular message, but if you accidently click on it, you have to wait for ages.
I agree. Especially if your keyring is large, clicking on a GPG signed message sometimes hangs Kmail entirely for about a minute (I have a P4 1.4GHz and my keyring contains all Debian developers). The nasty part is that you can't even write any new mail or cleanly close the program while the check is running. It apparently blocks the whole GUI thread: the user interface is not redrawn if you minimize and restore the window. This still applies to Kmail 1.6.1.
