Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.99) Installed from: Mandrake RPMs Compiler: gcc 3.2 OS: Linux KMail in KDE 3.1rc3 is still without a configurable Mail directory. I've read in a previous feature request (related reports #25801 and #29632) that it's possible to change the ~/Mail directory in something you wish adding a key name-value in ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc like "folder=/home/user/.kmail". And this works, thanks to Don Sanders for the suggestion. But the medium user would like to have a graphic option in the KMail configuration window. This would be really great.
Subject: Re: New: KMail _should_ have configurable Mail directory Just for the record: The mail directory only needs to be configurable during the very first start of KMail. This configurability has to be included into the yet to be written configuration wizard which will help the user to setup all necessary settings the first time KMail is started.
I think the default mail folder should be a hidden directory. There's absolutely no reason why most users want to look inside the folder anyway, so the icon just sits there wasting space for 99% of the users.

I absolutely second Hongli's suggestion. I think the default mail store should be in $KDEHOME/share/apps/kmail, that is most consistent with the rest of KDE. It shouldn't be $HOME/Mail as long as KMail doesn't play nice with standard Unix mail clients. BTW, what is the technical reason that KMail can't cooperate with pine, mutt et. al.? Is it too much of a task for a would-be developer to change this, or can you give me some pointers (hint: I'm volunteering here). Anno.
