Intel HD Grafics 2. Videos MP4 3. i5 2320 - 16Gb RAM - SSD OBSERVED RESULT Black screen during video playback. It works normally on other players, including the QtAV player itself https://master.dl.sourceforge.net/project/qtav/release/1.11.0/QtAV1.11.0-VS2015x64.exe EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 11 macOS: (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I reinstalled Digikam and also downloaded a portable version. The error always occurs on this computer. On another computer, also with Windows 11 and an integrated video card, the error does not occur.
Which version of digiKam are you using exactly, Qt5 or Qt6? Only the Qt5 version uses the QtAVPlayer. Otherwise, check the digiKam settings under Miscellaneous-> System and disable hardware acceleration for video, for example. A restart of digiKam will be required. Maik
Look at the online doc here : https://docs.digikam.org/en/setup_application/miscs_settings.html#system-settings
Any feedback on this? Which digiKam version, Qt5 or Qt6? If it's Qt6, have you tried disabling video hardware support for testing? Maik

Have you tried disabling video hardware acceleration, as described in Comment 1? Maik

(In reply to Maik Qualmann from comment #8) > Have you tried disabling video hardware acceleration, as described in > Comment 1? > > Maik Disabled hardware acceleration, also tested enabled but failure persists. I even installed the QT-Player Standallone downloaded directly from the developer's website. I tested the video files directly from QT Player and opened them normally. I have reinstalled Digikam from scratch, with zero database and default settings and the same error occurs. I was very intrigued by working on other computers but not on this one, and even without graphics cards I was able to run some games like NFSU2 and NFS Hot Pursuit. I imagine the problem is some incompatibility of digikam with the Intel i5 2gen processor version. I ended up getting rid of this computer. Now I can't test it anymore.

You have tested with stand alone QtAv player which is outdated a lot, and we don't use it since a while in digiKam, as it's not maintained. In Qt6 version, we use QtMultimedia. This is the standard now since 2 years. In the legacy Qt5 version, QtAv have been replaced by the QtAvPlayer. Name are near, but the implementations are different: QtAv (outdated : last stable 2017) : https://github.com/wang-bin/QtAV QtAvPlayer (maintained) : https://github.com/valbok/QtAVPlayer So your check with QtAv is not valid, even if test sounds good. I think your problem is relevant of the codec used by the framework to render. the video. Under Windows we can use a native one (3rdpaty or Windows core, this depend of the format), or ffmpeg. Performace with the first one must be better and optimum but requires an extra download and install on the system. ffmpeg is a failback always included in digiKam but it can be not optimum about performances. Remy, You still in CC of this bug due to the duplicate state of file #512471 . Can you reproduce the bug on your computer with a recent build of digiKam 8.9.0 pre-release ? thanks in advance Gilles Caulier

During Christmas time, i will rebuild the whole digiKam installer from scratch with VCPKG packages updated (opencv, qt, ffmpeg). We will see if the problem remain. Gilles Caulier
